Letter from the CEO

James McJunkins

President & Chief Executive Officer
Farm Credit Midsouth

2020 has been a challenging year for all of us. The COVID-19 virus has challenged our way of life, devastated many small businesses and taken many of our loved ones. Our farmers not only faced COVID-19 issues but persisted through a wet spring, low prices, and four hurricanes.

Farm Credit Midsouth has had its challenges as well but we have learned how to take care of our customers even if offices are closed. We have also learned that we can achieve outstanding growth of over $100 million without being behind a desk. We now know we can excel even in difficult times.

There is sunshine ahead. We have several vaccines to soon be administered to first protect our elderly and health workers. Commodity prices are looking much more favorable, and the dry fall has allowed many of our farmers to prepare many of their fields for spring planting.

I am so thankful for the hard working members and employees at Farm Credit Midsouth.

Galatians 6:9 says “Do not be weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not give up.”

Ecclesiastes 3 says “To every thing there is a season... a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance...”

Those verses remind me to keep on keeping on. Don’t give up! Better days are ahead.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some laughing and dancing!

On behalf of Farm Credit Midsouth, I want to thank our farmers for their hard work and patience in 2020. We wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous 2021!
