Crop Insurance Guru
One might say Kim Lamb knows a thing or two about crop insurance. Now Farm Credit Midsouth’s resident expert after 30 years in the industry—22 years with FCM—as Insurance Coordinator, Lamb handles the administrative side of crop insurance for our association.
Lamb is juggling many tasks on a daily basis. She takes care of our crop insurance portfolio, seeing all of our branches through transitions, working one-on-one with staff members and training new team members. She also manages oversees making sure staff is in compliance, and coordinating continuing education. And, she guides those applying for coverage.
Lamb says her job stays interesting because she is continuously learning as crop insurance has progressed and evolved. It is an ever-changing field, which makes for a varied workday. In addition to her FCM responsibilities, Lamb represents the state of Arkansas on the Farm Credit Insurance Committee, giving her the opportunity to meet, collaborate, and share industry ideas with her counterparts from around the district.
As for how she explains her longevity at Farm Credit Midsouth? She calls it a “great place to work.” She enjoys working with a fantastic team and credits management for creating an environment that offers a good work-life balance.
Today, Lamb resides in Harrisburg with her husband Wade. The couple are parents to two adult children and two grandchildren, Jordan and Brystol. She is a native Arkansan who grew up in Lepanto. She attended Arkansas State University – Newport where she majored in accounting and sort of “stumbled into” crop insurance in her first job where she handled accounting for an independent agent. We consider ourselves lucky she did!
